Helpful Hints Regarding Civil War Swords

There are two main types of replica Civil War swords available to you: Union and Confederate.  Both types were modeled after classic European designs. When the South was unable to obtain swords from the North, they copied the Union design and added a few modifications.

Both types of swords appear very similar in appearance.   The Southern designs offered elaborately carved designs and even engraved blades.  The Northern states saved the most beautiful and intricate swords for the highest ranking offiers.

Whether you choose Civil War swords for display purposes or for actual use, you always need to follow the proper safety procedures.  Never allow anyone to touch the blade of your sword.  Do not swing your sword wildly or use your sword to cut things.  Your Civil War Swords should be kept out of the reach of children at all times.

When cleaning your Civil War swords, use a soft cloth and rub gently.  You can also use a metal polish to remove any rust and keep the blade gleaming. It's also a good idea to coat your blade with a specially designed lubricant that prevents rust buildup.  Keep your sword out of the sheath, as the moisture generated inside can also cause rust and wear.

You can display your Civil War swords in glass case, mounted on the wall, or placed in a display stand.  If you choose a glass case, be sure to keep the glass cleaned regularly and kept free of dust and debris.
